Lightweight Slate Wall Fountain Information

Light Weight Slate is a thin layer of genuine Indian slate fused with a pliable surface. This substantially reduces the weight of the fountain and increases design options because of the flexibility of the slate.

The Lightweight slate fountains weigh less than a third of their "heavyweight" counterparts. 

Lightweight or Featherstone Slate is still very beautiful as it has the same beautiful colors as solid slate, however, if you are concerned about the weight of a solid slate fountain lightweight slate is a great option!  You will also typically (not always) see lightweight and featherstone slate framed with the metal your hood and basin is. (See image) This is due to the fact that the thin layer of slate is backed with a material such as fiberglass to support it.  The face of the wall fountain is then framed in to not see the backing.  They are very beautiful!
